Ocean Prince Wrecked Mars 7. 1968

picture Gale force winds gusting up to 90 miles an houre damaged the drilling rig 'Ocean Prince so severly March 7 1968 that the rig broke up and sank in the North Sea. The $7.000.000 rig was a total loss. A British helicopter pilot flying for Burmah Oil rescued the 45 crewmen from the rig. Virtually all the loss was covered by insuranse.
When the storm occured,the Ocean Prince was drilling for The Burmah Group about 100 miles off Scarborrough in the Dogger Bank area. At about 2 am on the day of the storm, the rig's superstructure was torn off during a gale. By 7:10 am aboat a third of the drilling
